Proverbs 31 Woman

Ann Phelps is named after Mimi

I could spend all day trying to write the perfect blog post to describe my grandmother (Margie Jones) and it still would not truly do her life justice. She passed away Sunday, February 21. This is the first time I have lost a grandparent. God has blessed me with very healthy grandparents who have lived into their 80's. My grandmother was such the epitome of a faithful Christian servant. She would "preach" to us all the time about God's grace and His love for us. Not only using words, but living as an example of a true Christian. Whenever I read Proverbs 31, she comes to mind. She truly lived that way! Not only was she a faithful Christian, she was a true Southern lady. Manners were very important to her. She even took us (all the grand kids) to manners school. She taught us how to be gracious in every situation. Some of my favorite memories of her are: sitting by her in church, spending the weeks with her in the summer, getting letters from her, hearing her praise the Lord, sitting at her fine table for special occasions, her calling me "lovebird", getting books from her, her beauty, her faithful devotion to her husband, she was always happy - she always saw the bright side of everything, her love of tennis, taking us on special trips all the time, she would never eat on paper plates if she could help it - she would take the food out of take out boxes and put it on china, she always had snacks, she was always so interested in my life, playing cards with her, her love for my children,etc.. I know I have a million more memories, I am sure another post will come soon! Pray for my grandfather, he has lost his bride of almost 62 years - he is heartbroken. But we know for sure Mimi is in Heaven where she has always wanted to be - praise the Lord!!

At least he shares!

It doesn't matter if I leave Ben and AP alone for two seconds, if there is food around Ben gives it to Ann Phelps!! I left the living room for literally two seconds and come back to find AP eating an Oreo!!!

Happy Birthday, Grandmother (Mrs. Martin)!

Will decorated the cake!

We went to Carrollton this past weekend to celebrate Rhyne's Mom's birthday! We went out to eat Saturday night. I have been so blessed to have such a great mother-in-law. She is always so willing to help in any way she can. And an extra bonus is she loves my kids soooo much!

February Snow

Excuse my look (no shower yet). Rhyne threw
a snowball at me, but it bounced on AP!

Snow Ice Cream

I cannot believe Will has experienced so much snow in his little life. In the past four years, he has seen more snow than I probably saw my whole childhood! We woke up this morning to about 4 inches of snow and it kept falling until around 1:30pm!! The boys had a blast playing in it! Ann Phelps had a little snow-time. She is teething so she has a runny nose and a cough so I didn't let her stay out too long! Rhyne helped the boys build a snowman and then they had a snowball fight. We also ate some snow ice cream. I made sure I got the "clean" snow!! It was a great family day!!

"I'm ONE!!"

Today my baby girl turns one!! Since we had her party this past Saturday, we decided to go to Chic-fil-A for supper since Wednesday is kid's night there. The boys played and AP got some free ice cream! As I look back at this past year I am so thankful that God is in control of my life. I always thought I wanted all boys - thanks be to God for knowing exactly what I need! I cannot imagine life without my precious girl!! She has filled a special hole in my heart! Like I have said a thousand times before, I really cannot believe how fast this year has gone! Happy Birthday, Ann Phelps!!

TOT

It is blurry, but you can see him waving!!

Will participates in TOT (teams of tomorrow) at school. Every Wednesday for about 30mins. he has TOT time at school. Even though they have what looks like a basketball, they don't "play" actual basketball. They learn ball handling skills like dribbling and it is all set to music. While they learn motor skills they also do "brain training" exercises - this includes counting in French and Spanish, learning the 5 senses, colors, shapes, etc.. I have been very pleased with everything he has learned, plus he is having so much fun. Saturday the TOT team performed at the halftime of the Mississippi College boys' game. I was not sure if Will would actually perform or just stand there. He surprised us all by hamming it up! The funniest thing was he could hardly perform because he was waving at us so much! Some of the pictures are blurry - I need a tripod for my camera when I am using the zoom lens! Anyway, he did an awesome job!! They will perform again in May where they show off everything they have learned this year!

1st Princess Party

Another fabulous Christina creation!

Ann Phelps doesn't turn one until Feb. 10, but we had her party today! I know I say it in every post, but I really cannot believe how fast this year has flown by! For some reason, I am more emotional with AP - I am really having a hard time seeing her turn one!! We just had a family party here at the house. We all joke about how Ben and Ann Phelps didn't get to have a blow-out first birthday party like Will, but I am sure when we tell the story of his beginnings they will understand (we hope)!! She had a princess themed party. Dee Dee found her a precious birthday dress and I found a princess bow (even though it looks silly because she doesn't have enough hair). She got so many cute things. She got mostly clothes because everyone had so much fun shopping for a girl!! Grandmother even got her a pink bucket to put her toys in (all two of them)ha! As I type, we are getting ready for the next event of the day - Will's TOT performance at Mississippi College (another post to follow)! Happy early Birthday, AP!!

Snow in the Country

Ben reminds me of the brother from
"A Chirstmas Story"

This past weekend me, the kids, and two dogs loaded up and headed to my parents' house. I always enjoy taking my kids to the country because they get to run wild without me having to worry about traffic! An added bonus was it snowed Saturday morning. The snow was not enough to make a snow man, but they could still scrape some off the cars and make a snow ball! Dee Dee and MarMoo (my Mom and Marcie) were such great troopers...they played in the cold with the boys while Ann Phelps and I stayed warm!
