Opening Day=Single Mom

so sweet

Ben playing with his army man

Today marked the beginning of hunting season (gun season) which means I will be a single Mom until mid-January! Now that I have three kids to keep me busy, I don't mind it (for three days max)! I decided that we would take advantage of the great weather and stay out of the house today. We first went to the train show at the Ag Museum (we were disappointed because it was basically just train collectors buying and selling trains, no fun stuff- but the kids enjoyed the train display the museum has up)! I then decided we should go to the Reservoir (North shore) because Will is always saying how much he would love to go the edge of the water. We went to the park and threw pine cones in the water- it was so much fun! AP loved chasing her brothers! We then traveled over the causeway to see water on BOTH sides of the car- so much fun! We turned around and went over it again then headed to Backyard Burger for a late lunch. After lunch we headed home so AP could nap. It probably doesn't sound like much fun to you, but I loved it!! I know in a few short years my boys will be tagging along with Rhyne to the deer camp and it will no longer be "cool" to stay home with MOM!!! I guess me and Ann Phelps will then take shopping trips (ha, ha)!

The Pilgrim and the Indian

The boys have been learning about the Pilgrims and Indians at school this week. Ben came home yesterday with a pilgrim hat. Today, Will was dressed like an Indian. Will's Indian name is "Bright Arrow"- I don't know if Will came up with that?! I have been trying to talk about Thanksgiving a lot to remind my children of how thankful we should be everyday- just when I feel prideful about the awesome job I am doing as a mom, trying to make my kids have thankful hearts- they scream at the commercial on TV: "Can I get that for Christmas?"!!!!!

Down on the Farm

Contructing the tow truck

Mr. Craig had to help seal the truck

Driving the tractor with Pap

All three of my kids have learned to drive this

This past weekend while Daddy was away hunting, we spent some time at my parents' farm. We played in the dirt, drove a tractor, fed the horses, watched the chickens and turkey play, climbed a tree, and ate a lot of home cooked food! Will even instructed Pap and Boots (my Daddy and brother) on how to construct the perfect tow truck. I was very impressed with the finished product! I had such a great weekend. I love watching my kids run wild in the country!!

This Week 11/1

see the scratches from AP

The Dragon

Throwing a tantrum

Things seem pretty boring now that we aren't preparing for MarMoo's (my sister's) wedding! This week was fairytale week at Covenant. Will had to dress up on Friday. I thought he would pick to be a nice prince, but he chose a dragon! Ann Phelps has been "beating" up her brothers when they do something she doesn't like - see Ben's face, the scratches! And she has learned the art of temper tantrums- she even throws herself on the floor gracefully!! That is what has been going on with us this week!

Treaters 2010

Batman, Cheerleader, and Buzz Lightyear

Even though Marmoo (my sister) had her wedding on the night all other kids were trick-or-treating, my kids were not left out! Grandmother took them treating after the rehearsal on Friday night - they skipped the dinner! Thanks to some great friends, the kids didn't miss out on getting tons of candy. Will was so upset when he realized the wedding would replace trick-or-treating. He even asked if Marmoo was keeping Santa from coming as well! I think he got enough candy Friday, he now forgives Marmoo!
